I did only a short test-run, but after the removal of lesstif it seems to build/run just fine with the current community/openmotif package.

Dear maintainer Following on from @Thah's earlier comments, the same thing happens on my system which has MAKEFLAGS="-j8" in /etc/makepkg.conf As this is a quick build using one core, I'd recommend changing the PKGBUILD file to include MAKEFLAGS="-j1" in the build section as described at... https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/makepkg#MAKEFLAGS Many thanks Paul

PKGBUILD needs the following changes to build binary from v3.7.7 source as of 2016-11-29: source=(http://www.clearskyinstitute.com/xephem/$pkgname-$pkgver.tar.gz) md5sums=('27c67061a89085bf2b0d4e9deb758a79')

Purely FYI: For some strange reason it doesn't build with MAKEFLAGS="-j4" in makepkg.conf for me. It worked with MAKEFLAGS="-j1". The probably relevant messages where: make[1]: warning: jobserver unavailable: using -j1. Add '+' to parent make rule. make[1]: Entering directory '/home/cpkg/abs/xephem/src/xephem-3.7.7/liblilxml' gcc -O2 -Wall -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -c -o lilxml.o lilxml.c /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -llilxml collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status [...] ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in build(). Aborting...
