@oberon2007 I'm using the same versioning used here
also your pkgbuild example is from another distro.

For a much simplified PKGBUILD, properly using make have a look here:

oberon2007 commented on 2017-10-11 09:51

You are using non-standard versioning. Please read up here:
In this case you should be using:
git describe --long | sed 's/^v//;s/\([^-]*-g\)/r\1/;s/-/./g'

Looks like the source needs to be updated to

Upstream has initiated a GTK 3.20 branch which works well and should be used on Arch. PKGBUILD diff:

pkgver() is still broken:
==> Starting pkgver()...
==> Updated version: xfce-theme-greybird-git v1.4-2-g98d9182.557.98d9182-1
==> ERROR: pkgver is not allowed to contain colons, hyphens or whitespace.

rscholer commented on 2014-07-30 20:06

I had to modify pkgver to build this package, since "-" is not allowed:
pkgver() {
cd Greybird
echo $(git describe --always | sed 's|-|_|g;s|v||')git$(git log -1 --format="%cd" --date=short | sed 's|-||g') }

Shouldn't this also depend on "community/gtk-engine-unico" as stated in the README file?

The GTK 3.8 issue is fixed here:

al3hex commented on 2013-04-20 22:30

@nuc "classic" theme (<= 0.8.2) doesn't exist anymore.

nuc commented on 2013-04-20 17:32

What about "Grebird Classic"? It is not integrated in this package - it is in xfce-theme-greybird AUR (non-git) package though.
Was it removed in recent changes or is it some downstream bug?

jskier commented on 2013-04-13 15:44

Started over with 3.6, separators still missing for GTK3 apps.

bjo commented on 2013-04-13 15:17

It's incompatible with 3.8 ( ), but should work fine with 3.6, no issues here.

jskier commented on 2013-04-13 15:12

Borked even worse with 3.8 from testing (with re-compile).

gtk3 3.6.4-2

bjo commented on 2013-04-13 08:21

Which gtk3-version are you using?

jskier commented on 2013-04-13 06:12

Anyone else having issues with GTK3 applications and missing separators?

pacman 4.1 ready PKGBUILD

rscholer commented on 2013-04-05 12:01

Hi. It would be nice if you could use the new syntax for VCS-Packages introduced by pacman 4.1. (Espescally the pkgver() function would be nice.)

For more information see:

No more unico engine for GTK+ 3.x.
No more bundled wallpaper.

rscholer commented on 2012-04-23 17:25

Hi. It would be nice if you could use the gtk3.3 branch, since it solves Problems with gtk3-3.4.1 and/or gtk-engine-unico-1.0.2

If someone wishes to adopt this PKGBUILD, go for it. I don't plan on maintaining -git packages, since I prefer to follow final releases where all users get the same "finished product". The Shimmer Project follows the Ubuntu release cycle (9.10, 10.04, 10.10, 11.04, 11.10, 12.04, et al.) So the Shimmer Project Xfce themes I maintain on the AUR should technically update upon those release dates, with some exceptions.

I understand there are some users who prefer to grab the latest git changes, and so it's totally cool if someone wants maintain git PKGBUILDs for these Xfce themes.

You can use my PKGBUILDs as a guideline on creating the -git PKGBUILDs. Do note that I use "git checkout 'v$pkgver'", which uses the distinct git-tag release based on the release version. You have to leave this out in your PKGBUILDs.
