The corresponding upstream issue report to this build problem is ↗ here.

In short: Newer XFCE has libxfce4ui-2 and libxfce4panel-2, but this plugin here expects libxfce4ui-1 and libxfce4panel-1.

libxfce4ui should be pulled by dependency xfce4-panel.

Package libxfce4ui is installed, but ./configure fails on it.

Fails to ./configure for me:

checking for libxfce4ui-1 >= 4.8.0... not found
