that's not the issue, unfortunately. makes no difference, error message still there. my last working version was 1.42. i have downgraded to it and no errors there. I had skipped 1.43 (no idea why.) Edit: the problem is located in the .xferc file which must be making reference to some removed icons, i've renamed that file (started with a fresh one) and the error is gone. i'll need to copy/paste the bookmarks and some other settings to the new xferc i suppose. problem solved, thanks for being so quick on the turnarounds.

If you go into Edit > Preferences > Appearance, under "Icon theme path", you should be able to select whichever icon themes are available. XFE recently removed old XFE icons, so it's likely you need to pick one of the supported packs (whichever is under /usr/share/xfe/icons that you prefer).

meanjollies commented on 2021-03-15 19:18 (UTC)

Are there icon images inside of it?

stef204 commented on 2021-03-15 19:17 (UTC)

/usr/share/xfe/icons/xfe-theme does exist, yes.

meanjollies commented on 2021-03-15 19:13 (UTC)

Does /usr/share/xfe/icons/xfe-theme actually exist? If not, can you look inside /usr/share/xfe/icons and try setting it to one of those?

stef204 commented on 2021-03-15 19:11 (UTC) (edited on 2021-03-15 19:16 (UTC) by stef204)

% grep iconpath ~/.config/xfe/xferc iconpath=/usr/share/xfe/icons/xfe-theme

I tried building in a clean chroot now that you mentioned it but I get the same error.

meanjollies commented on 2021-03-15 18:06 (UTC)

Hey @stef204, what does grep iconpath ~/.config/xfe/xferc report? I built this in a clean chroot, so there may be some upgrade compatibility issues. My iconpath is set to /usr/share/xfe/icons/default-theme, so you may need to adjust yours to reflect the right one.

stef204 commented on 2021-03-15 13:42 (UTC)

Getting en error on 1.44-1.

"Icon path doesn't exist. Icon them was set back to default. Please check your icon path!"

Did anyone have any luck detecting USB connected smartphone using MTP protocol? Thunar mounts it automatically, but XFE not.

I've seen the request to add the MTP feature to XFE about 3 years ago.

semeion commented on 2020-11-12 18:56 (UTC)

@Fixed, I think xfe is the best file manager for linux and i have no idea the reason for what it isn´t in the extra repo, sad.

Fixed commented on 2019-09-22 19:36 (UTC)

Does anyone know why the package was removed from Extra, I guess?

Thunar is miserable

meanjollies commented on 2019-08-24 17:56 (UTC)

@c.monty this should be fixed now. Thank you for reporting this.

@meanjollies super fast update, thank you ;)

JohnRobson commented on 2018-08-27 22:41 (UTC)

@meanjollies I installed and worked, thank you very much. This package should be one of the dependencies.

meanjollies commented on 2018-07-22 02:00 (UTC)

@JohnRobson do you have the libxft package installed?

semeion commented on 2018-07-22 01:57 (UTC) (edited on 2019-05-13 07:40 (UTC) by semeion)

The best file manager, i have no idea the reason for what it was removed from official repositories.

Anybody know the reason?

BTW, thanks for the nice job of maintain it here on AUR.

@stef204 Okay, and I assume you get no output for "pkg-config --exists --print-errors xcb-aux"? If so, are you modifying any of your PKG_CONFIG vars? Are your packages up to date?

stef204 commented on 2018-07-20 19:27 (UTC) (edited on 2018-07-20 19:39 (UTC) by stef204)

% pkg-config --variable pc_path pkg-config

% pkg-config --list-all | grep xcb-aux

xcb-aux XCB Aux library - XCB convenient functions

I still fails to build 'normally' on my (up-to-date) box but does build, as mentioned before, in clean chroot. So no worries.

It happens from time to time with some AUR packages. When it does, I usually just move on to build in clean chroot and if it builds, I leave it at that.

meanjollies commented on 2018-07-20 13:14 (UTC)

@stef204 I'm not able to reproduce this on a clean install. However, I think it is a good idea to add xcb-util as a dependency, so I'll do that. What output do you get for "pkg-config --variable pc_path pkg-config" and "pkg-config --list-all | grep xcb-aux"?

stef204 commented on 2018-07-20 08:15 (UTC) (edited on 2018-07-20 09:50 (UTC) by stef204)

Fails to build both using makepkg AND asp in clean chroot.

Error message using asp in clean chroot:

"checking for xcb... yes checking for xcb_aux... no configure: error: Cannot find xcb-aux"

xcb-aux should be provided by xcb-util package, installed on my box AND in clean chroot but no joy.

Any ideas?

Edit: if I add xcb-util to dependency array, it builds fine in clean chroot. Otherwise, I would probably have to install xcb-util in clean chroot using something like: "# makechrootpkg -r $CHROOT -- -i"

Although, I should say that I do have xcb-util installed locally and package still fails to build using makepkg.

meanjollies commented on 2018-06-02 19:04 (UTC)

Adopted. An upstream patch is now applied to use pkg-config to detect freetype and xft. This may have fixed any X issues, as I cannot reproduce any freezes.

haawda commented on 2018-06-02 07:03 (UTC)

This program repoducably freezes X on my system. Orphaning.

haawda commented on 2018-06-02 06:35 (UTC) (edited on 2018-06-02 07:03 (UTC) by haawda)

There is a fork on github.

Change this

source=( no_freetype_check.patch)

sha256sums=('44b07fc5d7b2dadb3267c1c80279bdc1a84f264272f15e8f5cb920d83c0fab92' '8a7acd26ae612ea02aa00c6cb12763e04b3c17e9c8782d64b76930718a19c92b')

and cd into XFE-master in the three functions.

commented on 2018-05-31 07:50 (UTC)

but the sourceforge has been banned persia :(

haawda commented on 2018-05-06 07:36 (UTC)

Install the package "patch", which is in base-devel. Or better, install base-devel.
