corrected using Vi0L0's solution. what seemed to be happening is that xnconvert loads its own
libqxcb.so
which loads/usr/lib/libfontconfig.so
but then loads the providedlibfreetype.so.6
instead of the system's one. However the providedlibfreetype.so.6
is not compatible with the system's one. The solution is to remove the providedlibfreetype.so.6

solution: remove /opt/xnconvert/lib/libfreetype.so.6

I can also confirm that version 1.83-1 does not start. It gives the same error as ikurito wrote.
qt.qpa.plugin: Could not load the Qt platform plugin "xcb" in "" even though it was found. This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
Available platform plugins are: eglfs, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, vnc, wayland-egl, wayland, wayland-xcomposite-egl, wayland-xcomposite-glx, xcb
Running on Manjaro KDE
