Hi,

The Categories in /usr/share/applications/xscreensaver-properties.desktop should probably be stripped of Settings;DesktopSettings;X-XFCE because there is already an Xfce settings item provided by xfce4-screensaver which replaces this. Right now there are two identical screensaver control panel settings items and you never know which is which. Furthermore xscreensaver-properties won't start anyway.

@Vryali Thanks for your answer. Yet i also tried with several vanilla arch based distros. Always the same issues

Hey @Barracuda - I also use XFCE and haven't had any issues, but I'm not sure that's much to go by. Nothing in the install, or on my system, has mucked about with the settings for xfce4-screensaver as best I can tell. I am using one of the screensavers provided by this package, but that's the only entry that I'd imagine has changed since before I picked it up.

You could try creating a new local user account (So you don't inherit anything) and see what behavior you're seeing there, or simply back up your existing configs and launch into vanilla.

Otherwise no, I'm sorry, I don't know where to look other than local settings. If you do find an issue with the PKGBUILD or if the copy of the xml is causing your problems I'm down to adjust the package, just let me know.

Hi, I have several issues since i updated to xscreensaver-backends 6.03-1.

My DE is XFCE and from time to time, i can't unlock my session, like i can't enter my password in the textbox, i have to switch to tty to unlock it with pkill -KILL -u username.

I also notice that now i have another "Screensaver" parameter setting in XFCE Settings Manager alongside the default existing one (xfce4-screensaver). I also have a new entry in my startup applications which is : xscreensaver -no-splash.

I have no more issue if i revert to the previous version xscreensaver-backends 6.01-1. I have the feeling Xscreensaver install too much which conflict with my system. Do you have an idea ?

Thanks a lot

Just updated because I wanted more screensavers in XFCE as well. Made some modifications as recommended by either errors in the package() phase or as recommended by namcap, which is a new tool from the last time I did packages :)

Yes that worked! Much appreciated @xdavidwu. I'm currently on XFCE4 so using these through xfce4-screensaver. I noticed that the 'configure screensaver' button doesn't do anything.. Is there any way for you to enable this functionality or are we stuck with their default settings?

@PunPatrol I am not sure why that happened, but updating to 5.45 fixed that. :)
