I made a KDE5 icons for yapan, I tried making them according to the design team guidelines.
They are free to use and you can download them from here:

A PKBUILD is no shell script.
It does not hurt, but I recommend to remove the shebang (first line).

Changes needed:

qt -> qt4
qmake -> qmake-qt4
lupdate -> lupdate-qt4
lrelease -> lrelease-qt4

When I try to install it after changing qt to qt4 and qmake to qmake-qt4, I get this error:

lupdate error: Cannot open file '-silent': No such file or directory

What am I doing incorrectly?

Comment by American_Jesus

out-of-date because PKGBUILD needs to be updated with new qt dependencies

Change qt to qt4 and qmake to qmake-qt4 and it builds fine.

Rebooting the machine should work to, if anyone prefer...
@zizzfizzix I didn't know at the time how to push, pull and stuff, but now I am commiting on google code, the source code is there now...

Thanks otsug, that fixed it. I had the former file but not the latter. Nice work!

Hi @oboedad55 I have this warning too, sounds like a bug from kdelibs: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde4libs/+bug/959151, but is working without problems... close yapan, delete /tmp/yapan.lock and delete /tmp/yapan/yapan.lock and open again, you are running more than one instance of yapan or these files are there for some reason...

With version 0.4.2-1 I get this error on launch: "QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave." Then this: "Can't start more than one instance of the Yapan." I deleted the config file in /home dir.

why don't you develop in public? I mean the source code is available but the bitbucket repo doesn't contain any

Hi rascas, I never see this error before =/, sounds like a problem with your .bashrc, maybe some wrong character, restore default configuration in yapan 0.4.1 and tell me if changed anything.

Comment by rascas

2011-08-04 19:55

In kde 4.7 still the same problem. If i execute the default command to update (dbus-launch konsole --nofork --noclose...), in terminal, another terminal is opened with this information:

/bin/bash: line 0: fg: no job control

--- Finished ---

And nothing happens. Maybe its a permissions problem ( i have full control of the system like super user, etc ) or something misconfigured. This happens in a clean install in another machine to, with default configuration in Yapan. The Update option works, Synchronize not. Like, if you click Synchronize, nothing happens. Any ideas?

Now, with kde 4.7 and a clean installation of Arch, I still having the same problem: Yapan doesn't synchronize automatically. In Konsole/Yakuake pacman/yaourt works perfectly. Any idea?
Thanks...

otsug: What are the commands that you use in "Update command to call" and the other things in the "Package Manager" tab of "Yapan settings" ? I think that is my problem...

@schorsch hmm, I understand now, sorry, english is not my first language, I will test this. Thank you.

What i mean is that pacman is in the "Testing" repository and not in the "Core" repository. The Calls are exactly the same. But it hangs after executing from yapan. The repository are up to date but then it hangs (pacman -Sy). And the "pacman -Qu" call will start but yapan does nothing. I have to kill the processes. When i execute the calls from the command line everything works well.

@schorsch: sorry I don't understand, what is the difference between "pacman 3.5.0 from Testing" and "Pacman 3.5.0 itself"? if pacman 3.5.0 from Testing has a different name, you have to change the calls in Settings -> Package Manager.

You may want to delete the ||return 1 statements as they are no longer needed since pacman 3.4.0 ;)

wow, nice ghosts, they look great on the tray, I made a new update gif with your ghosts like the other I made, really hard to decide, I think the change of colors call for more attention, but the ghost moves is very nice.

here is my last iteration of the update gif, this one look and moves like the real ghost and uses just 2 frames: http://www.mediafire.com/?gk9hkbhqd241l2f

I had some spare time so I made new ghost icons based on the real one. the one I based the old ghost doesn't look like the real ones and I'm not sure about the copyright. they look very good on the tray. I leave making the gif to you since I don't use karbon and the gimp made one gave you some trouble.

looks great, 2 things: 1. make the update.gif proprietorial in size (like 128x128), not the images just the container. 2. 30 seconds is too long, 5-6 is enough to attract attention, or maybe make it configurable.
my contrib is very small so no need to mention it. it was a my pleasure to help a bit. if you want I do not mind adding me ,as you described, to the contib list.

@amirs what do you think of this http://www.mediafire.com/?2cig2hct1s61p6q collection? I use the colors of original pacman ghosts, and they repeat in 30 seconds too, and the stop is the dark blue, I save your svg with karbon14 again because the size jump from 9kb to 1.8 kb. Did you mind if I put your name in about dialog for the contribution, something like "thank you amirs for the icons" or other name? or I will create other dialog like gimp to put this stuff; I am changing some stuff, when done I will launch another version.

@amirs Nice icons, I am trying to use more svg for best quality, so I am using your raw svg, good idea in update gif icon, I think there is a bug in gif animation sometimes and I think I fix that, I will post new icons here later and tell me what do you think, I like the dark blue in off, but I don't know. Thank you.

I made a full set of icons: http://www.mediafire.com/?5hdv0hh6asqg43a
the update icon is an animated gif (it changes color for 2 seconds to attract attention), feel free to use any of them.

@amirs like I said I don't know how to make icons, but I think in Yapan 0.2 the default icon and sound are much better.

The sound is from the game pacman XD, I found this public domain sound in the internet, I agree with the colors, but I don't know how to make icons, I only changed the colors... anyway the important thing is you can change everything. Thanks for the comment.

Comment by amirs

2011-02-06 18:39

the sound is a little bit crazy, should be shorter and not so intrusive. the online color should be white or blue (yellow doesn't look so good with the default kde tray icons color) other then that it's great, thank you.
