I think it's finally time to backport this as well: https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/pull/16250

@mabod: Added this patch, since it's a reasonably low risk quality-of-life patch

You could also add https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/pull/16241 It ensures that dkms does not leave zfs garbage in /usr/lib/modules/ when uninstalled.

@darkbasic cherry-picked the Linux 6.9 patch, but not the 6.10 one. Since the latter patch is not code reviewed and 6.10 kernel is also not released yet. Might just wait for it to land in the staging branch.

Would it be possible to backport https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/commit/49f3ce338587410cabc078646b76152685ae102d And maybe while we're at it even https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/pull/16250

@darkbasic done

It should provide 'zfs' otherwise I get the following error:

:: removing zfs-dkms-git breaks dependency 'zfs' required by zfsbootmenu-efi-bin

@mabod: I created the staging zfs-utils-staging-git package. But it's not a forced dependency at the moment in order to avoid dependency hell. Staging branch are generally safe because there are no breaking changes in staging branch

The zfs-dkms version should always match the zfs-utils version. It is not recommendend to just update zfs-dkms. I have created my own zfs-utils-staging-git package by copying the relevant stuff from your PKGBUILD. Would you mind to provide an AUR package like zfs-utils-staging-git ?

@bjin - Thank you for your much appreciated zfs-dkms-staging-git effort! My hand was 'forced' when my go to kernel, linux-hardened, got bumped to 6.7.2 today (28 Jan). zfs-dkms-staging-git built and installed correctly against linux, -zen and -hardened.

Cheers!!
