Though, for now, users are advised to use
zfs-dkms
, which is well-cared-for and up-to-date — 2 years newer than this '-rc' package. And once
zfs-dkms-rc
gets updated, that one would be the best choice for anyone wishing to test-drive the prerelease version, with any supported kernel variant and version.Maintaining kernel flavor specific modules is a shaky business outside of a binary repo. So in my opinion, packages like this one should best be deleted from the AUR, because they are continuously posing a maintenance lag risk and maintenence discontinuation risk for users, who at any unexpected time can be faced with an unupgradeable system at best, or an unbootable system at worst.

Latest release as of now is
zfs-2.2.0-rc3
(27 Jul 2023).The beginning of the
pkgver
for that should be'2.2.0rc3'
, because for pacman/makepkg/vercmp, the following is true:adlerweb commented on 2023-08-03 10:41 (UTC)
2.2.0-rc was released and allows to use current linux-6.4.x. Seems to work fine so far. PKGBUILD: https://gist.github.com/adlerweb/32c6ea82b7abf2c8a256628988fbaa43
