The http server config files are useful imho. Why do you think they should be dropped?

At long last, just yesterday 1.38.0 was released. Judging by the changelog it's kind of a huge release (understandably, as it's been almost 5 years since 1.36.0 was released), with lots of things having been changed both internally and in the required dependencies, so if you encounter any build or even runtime issues (e.g. I may have missed some new Perl module dependency) please do report them here. Thanks!

Also, a quick question for anyone who may care to answer: do you think the included Apache and Nginx conf files are of any real use anymore? Letting aside personal preferences and habits when it comes to service configuration, it's been years since I first wrote them and it's a given that best practices and/or Zoneminder's requirements will have changed in the meantime. So if most everybody is using their own configuration anyway, I may as well remove them and let people configure their proxy servers as they see fit.

@sav try yourself with some examples: https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/appy-patch-file-using-patch-command/

@Nocifer, thanks for fixing the version. Everything has loaded and is working. And also thanks to @ilsensine for your help. Unfortunately, my knowledge was not enough to bring it to life. If you write to your personal email where you can find information on this topic or tell me how to use the patch, I would be very grateful.

I just noticed that, as of a couple of weeks ago, FFmpeg 8.0 support has been backported to the 1.36 branch, so I've pushed an update with that support included.

@Nocifer Got it, the main issue was with perl-io-interface, requiring a previous perl version. Applied @ilsensine 's patch and it worked, thnx!

@sav, https://paste.c-net.org/GorgeousWeigh I hope you can at least know how to apply the patch to the 1.36.36-1 tarball. I cannot do more than this.

@Nocifer, when can I expect a fixed version? I can't edit PKGBUILD from @ilsensine.

Nocifer commented on 2025-12-03 16:36 (UTC)

@blinx There isn't a hard dependency on a specific Perl version so you should have no issues, especially since in your case you're going to be building everything from scratch.
