FWIW the reason setuptools is a runtime dependency is because of https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Python_package_guidelines#setuptools

It uses a console_scripts generated wrapper in /usr/bin/ which means it uses setuptools in order to load the module and pass arguments along.

@wucke13: Fixed. @boosterdev: Are you sure that's the problem? Because there seems to be no explicit or implicit run time dependency on setuptools.

boosterdev commented on 2017-04-19 18:50 (UTC)

it requires setuptools not only for make if build in a clean chroot this program will not run

Regardless of installing the python2 version or this one, error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files) /usr/bin/beautysh exists in both 'python-beautysh' and 'python2-beautysh' Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded. appears. If I force the installation, pacman -R offers me both versions to uninstall. In summary, installing one of the two makes pacman think both are installed, which results in the conflict of identical named files from diffrent packages. Any idea how to fix this?
