brscan4 should be added to the Dependencies to follow the format of other multi-function Brother printers

Thanks ghostbuster, I had ghostscript installed when I made that post. I got it working after realizing that for some reason my cupsd service was not in fact running as it should have been on my system. Starting cupsd seems to have resolved the issue and I can now apparently print without issues.

I did some tests with a fresh Arch installation and was able to reproduce the error you described using a network printer. Due to USB length restrictions I did not test a direct USB connection.

Printing test pages started working after I installed ghostscript and restarted cupsd. Could you please test this on your system. If it solves the issue, I will add ghostscript to the dependencies of this PKGBUILD.

After installing this via the AUR and configuring via CUPS, I cannot seem to get my printer to print. Diagnostics return the error message "Filter failed". The printer starts revving up when I try to get it to test print, but then nothing happens and it eventually goes to sleep again.

I am printing via USB.

As far as I can tell I have installed this driver as I should. I also installed foobar related PPD collections just in case. No luck. I have confirmed that the machine seems to do scan-and-copy just fine when triggered manually. Help getting this working would be appreciated.

UPDATE: Same behaviour observed when setting the printer up via ethernet over a LAN, as per gonciarz' post below. I can connect to the printer, but all attempts to print anything fail. Behaviour is otherwise the same as before (printer will snap out of sleep mode when sent a print job, display reads "receiving data", then it goes back to its' default state and resumes sleep mode after a time without printing).

Currently trying to install this, and I get the issue:

"Dependency lib32-glibc' ofbrother-dcp7065dn' does not exist."

I assume this problem is happening because Arch's package organization has shuffled around a bit since the last update to this AUR repository. Have I missed something? Otherwise, a fix for this would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

EDIT: Coming back to this ages later, I probably did not have multilib enabled. Thanks for the suggestion. I believe that was the problem.

Hi, I have finally found the solution (printer connected through ethernet) which should be publish here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php?title=Brother_DCP-7065DN&redirect=no and/or can be printed in post package installation on sysout. 1. yaourt -S brother-dcp7065dn 2. systemctl restart org.cups.cupsd 3. open website: http://localhost:631/admin > Add printer - type: Other Network Printer: LPD/LPR Host or Printer - connection (uri): lpd://PRINTER_IP_ADDRESS/BINARY_P1 - name: any (e.g. DCP7065DN) - driver: Make: Brother / Model: Brother BrGenML1 for CUPS (en) Before that I was trying to choose a driver by pointing to a file. That might've been the reason why printer was looking for some files. Then I was run off space on my hard drive and got another error message: "Can't copy stdin to temporary file". But right now it works :)
