The package descriptions says "LPR and CUPS driver for the Brother HL3040cn" which is the wrong printer model. This could be irritating but the correct driver is downloaded and installed.

'Failed to restart org.cups.cupsd.service: Unit org.cups.cupsd.service not found.'

It is called 'cups.service' now. So this has to be changed in the file 'brother-hl3140cw.install'. Until this is done, a manual 'systemctl restart cups.service' could be required.

Works as long as you manually locate and install the PPD file.

(flagging this as out-of-date due to the unlisted lib32-glibc dependency)

After installing this on a Manjaro system, local host resolution did not work for CUPS. I had to adapt the connection setting of the printer in the CUPS web interface (http://localhost:631/printers/) to something like this:

Connection: lpd://BRW1C3E8467XXXX.local/BINARY_P1

Note the addition of ".local". Then, I had to start Avahi (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Avahi):

sudo systemctl enable avahi-daemon.service

Could lib32-glibc be included in dependencies please? Thanks for the pkgbuild (:
