@grawlinson, sorry I did not enable notifications for this package. A startup script is perfectly fine for my needs, thank you!

Would a startup script like cd $bindir && exec $bin be acceptable?

This is missing a startup script (or if possible the main executable) in /usr/bin, otherwise it can't be launched conveniently in desktop environments like i3 that do not handle .desktop files, or from the console.
