Also missing either optional or hard dependency on 'ghostscript.' Without it, printing fails saying "ppdFilterPDFtoPS: Unable to execute gs program: No such file or directory"

@m01: Hmm, it is some time I was scanning something. I don't use `scangearamp` but `scanimage` instead. Last time I've checked `scangearamp` it was working OK for me. Unfortunately, I'm not able to verify it now since I'm out of toner and weirdly enough can't even scan anything :-|.

While scangearmp's preview works fine, it segfaults when I hit the 'Scan' button with messages like this: (scangearmp:25541): GLib-CRITICAL **: Source ID 4294967168 was not found when attempting to remove it (scangearmp:25541): GLib-CRITICAL **: Source ID 2337 was not found when attempting to remove it (scangearmp:25541): GLib-CRITICAL **: Source ID 3449 was not found when attempting to remove it [1] + segmentation fault (core dumped) scangearmp Any ideas? :(

I've noticed that after I set up this printer in cups, it works for 2-4 weeks and then eventually stops working (jobs get sent to it, but none of them print--as if the printer is disconnected, but it isn't). Deleting and readding the printer in cups doesn't help. To get it to work again, I have to use pacman to uninstall it and then reinstall it (and then add the printer again). At that point everything works as normal again. This has happened to me at least 3 times since last September.

Yes, I forgot to mention, that 2 letter pairs actually form MAC address of the printer on the network. One should be able to arping it. I used scangearmp couple times, it works, one can configure there stuff like feeder and other aspects. I find it overcomplicated, so I wrote a simple script using ``scanimage``. Has simple curses dialog, to choose color, resolution, and jpeg quality saving result as pdf. I don't scan too often but wanted some no brainer simple solution (https://github.com/mkoskar/homefiles/blob/master/bin/scan). Maybe it will suit you. Cheers.

Thanks. I have it working over net and/or usb with no problems. I used the web interface and choose the driver that ended with many two letter combinations. The scanner also works nicely with scangearmp. I just have to figure out how to scan directly to pdfs or if I can use xsane and other programs or if I'm restricted to scangearmp.

I haven't tried myself over USB, but I'm able to print / scan over network (wifi actually). Make sure when you are adding printer to specify 'Device URI' in form of e.g., 'cnijnet:/00-AB-BA-00-AC-DC'. If I can recall correctly search mechanism didn't work for me. I usually do this over web interface 'http://localhost:631' but you can use e.g. 'system-config-printer' front-end too. Hope this helps.
