Version 7.3 segfault problem has been fixed.

Failure in check() indicates that the setup script has been changed. Please flag the package out of date if this happens.

If the application reports a new version, you can OK the update and it will make and install an updated Arch package. (You will need your sudo password.)

$ cewe-fotobuch

qt.qpa.plugin: Could not find the Qt platform plugin "wayland" in "" This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. Abandon (core dumped)

I tried to install cewe-fotobuch and cewe-fotowelt from a archlinux container in distrobox. Both install and and attempts to start after installing the following packages:

nss libxcomposite libxr libxtst freetype2 libfontconfig fontconfig

However it fails to start with the following error:

terminate called after throwing an instance of 'St13runtime_error' what(): locale::facet::_S_create_c_locale name not valid Aborted (core dumped)

Anyone a idea?

I don't work for CEWE but I have noticed that input into text boxes has some limitations. If you have selected a font that you know contains the emojis and you can't paste them in, then you have discovered another one.

The upstream link is a German website, which I don't speak, and I can't find a proper link to ask this question, so I hope you are working for/at CEWE @DonJaime: I'm trying to paste emoji in textboxes but can't. Is this is an issue with the software/font or is it explicitly not possible?

@FFF: The Manjaro Stable branch still uses libtiff version 4.4.0-4. I think it will be upgraded in a few weeks. In the meantime you can simply change the Build-files ("PKGBUILD" e.g. in Pamac when installing the cewe-fotobuch package). -> Change: depends=('libx11' 'libjpeg' 'curl' 'wget' 'snappy' 'libxcrypt-compat' 'libtiff5') to depends=('libx11' 'libjpeg' 'curl' 'wget' 'snappy' 'libxcrypt-compat' 'libtiff') (just replace "libtiff5" with "libtiff").

After the installation is complete, you also need to change it in the following file to get the updates: "/var/tmp/pamac-build-YOURUSERNAME/cewe-fotobuch/PKGBUILD" -> Then you can use the update function inside Cewe.

But keep in mind to change these settings back to "libtiff5" when your system gets updated. Happy wife, happy life. :-)

Hi all, I got the same problem (running Manjaro). I only get offered libtiff in Version 4.4.0-4 (official extra), so I can't install the recommended version 4.5.0. Where can I get that? It is kind of urgent, bc my wife expects a fotobook for her birthday ;o) Much obliged!

christian-becker commented on 2023-01-11 19:46 (UTC)

Okay, you are right, regarding all up-to-date packages, it is working with "libtiff5".

My system still had "libtiff (v4.4.0-4)"(Repository: Extra) which also provides "libtiff.so.5". With the updated version of "libtiff (v4.5.0)" it provides "libtiff.so.6". Then "libtiff5" (AUR) can be installed without conflict.

DonJaime commented on 2023-01-11 15:21 (UTC)

libtiff5 is currently required because as from version 4.5.0 the arch libbtiff package provides libtiff.so.6, while cewe looks for libtiff.so.5. There is no conflict if the system is up to date.

christian-becker commented on 2023-01-11 09:32 (UTC)

IMHO the PKGBUILD "depend=" should use "libtiff" and not "libtiff5". Many other applications depend on libtiff; using libtiff5 will produce a package conflict.

Version 7.3 is available via automatic update, but not (yet) via the download link in the PKGBUILD. Auto update to 7.3 now works, but the application then segfaults for me. Does it work for others?

For the above reasons I don't want to update the version number to 7.3 yet.
