Hello all. New maintainer here. I updated the package, the license, and fixed the libcrypt.so.1 requirement. I'll look at the remaining metadata and at picking the ideal upstream source in future releases.

Needs libxcrypt-compat package, because embbeded ruby uses libcrypt.so.1 that was deprecated in libxcrypt package

I've offered to help @simonvik maintain the package. You're still required to accept the Chef license to use this package, but you prefer an community distribution there's https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/cinc/

The problem with chef-client now is that first of all, they renamed it to chef-infra but they also added a license thats not very free.

The source code of the project is still open source but the source the package builds from is not.

Question is how we continue from here, there are some rename project where they removed all the non closed licenses from the build and called it something else, perhaps we should give up chef-client and move to that?

If you've abandoned the package, please orphan it so someone else can pick it up.
