@nylocx is right. This should be a -bin.

This should've also been installed in /opt, not /usr/share.

Here's a heavily modified PKGBUILD for 4.2.0: https://gist.github.com/lae/4a9596c2b04356d8eb88801c1f30ee4a

However I would recommend just...not installing this as a system package. I won't be, hence I'm not publishing a new package for this. It appears to require the end user to be able to write to at least some of its files (like those in system/ and models/). Every file in this package, including executable code, is world writable when they really shouldn't be.

In the PGKBUILD the Coppelia source file md5sum should be d9450f602e601e13340d804f67378968 and not e09e9cf3d2b14353c9d8c29d58d05910. This is why the build process fails to verify the integrity of the file.

Using yay, I get the following error when I'm trying to install

"ERROR: One or many files are not valid ! Error while downloading sources: coppeliasim"

For the video compression library bug, it seems that you have to recompile said lib and move it to the installation directory. https://github.com/CoppeliaRobotics/videoRecorder is the github for the lib.

coppelia shows the following warning dialog:

Could not find or correctly load the video compression library.

Try following:

>sudo apt-get install libavcodec-dev libavformat-dev libswscale-dev
if above fails, try first:
sudo apt-get -f install

I would assume that some dependencies are not met by this package.

Hi, coppelia robotics released a new version (4.0.0) under the name "CoppeliaSim". I used this as an opportunity to create a new aur package based on this PKGBUILD. @patrickelectric I hope you don't mind...

Will be updated soon this week

Here is a temporary PKGBUILD for the current (3.6.1) version... it should work (it did for me at least): https://pastebin.com/sxrE2vLq Unfortunately not all dependencies are (or can be easily) satisfied, so some plugins might not work

Edit: Updated md5sum to 3_6_2

Is this package still maintained? It's been out of date for a while now.

nylocx commented on 2017-03-21 10:03 (UTC)

Shouldn't this package be called vrep-bin as it doesn't build from the sources but installs the binary version? Btw. I think the md5sum changed again.
