Package now split to 3 - client, server, kernel module. This package follows develop branch so if you want the latest released check corefreq-dkms. Please report any issues!

Cyring,

corefeq looks interesting, but this package doesn't follow archlinux packaging guidelines.

Apart from VCS guidelines the use of dkms and including a kernel module means it also needs to follow DKMS guidelines and kernel module guidelines.

A first step would be to separate the kernel module and the userspace parts into 2 packages, say corefreq and corefreq-utils .

Are you willing to change the sourcecode to make this easy ?

Chapa, dkms requires you to make sure the headers for all installed kernels that dkms needs are present, not this package.

run pacman -Qi dkms and check the optional dependencies.

"Install DKMS modules ==> Unable to install module corefreqk/1.78 for kernel 5.4.43-1-MANJARO: Missing kernel headers. ==> Unable to install module corefreqk/1.78 for kernel 4.19.125-1-MANJARO: Missing kernel headers."

Sadly.

As I can see others have commented, please follow the guidelines for VCS packages and include the revision and commit. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/VCS_package_guidelines#The_pkgver()_function

Install the package:

git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/corefreq-git.git
cd corefreq-git
makepkg -si
cd

Load the kernel module (as root)

modprobe corefreqk

Check if the Processor is detected ?

dmesg -t|grep "CoreFreq"
CoreFreq(1:7): Processor [ 06_2C] Architecture [Westmere/Gulftown] SMT [12/12]

Start the daemon (as root)

systemctl start corefreqd

Check if the Daemon is successfully started ?

systemctl status corefreqd --all
     Active: active (running)

Run the Client (as a user)

corefreq-cli

DKMS script fixed. Thank you

Shished commented on 2020-01-09 15:20

Kernel module fails to build because dkms script looks for /usr/src/corefreqk-1.71 folder but corefreqk-1.72 is there.

I just repaired the package. I hope it now works properly.

Should be bumped to 1.67… doesn't compile anymore if not.
