Attempts to strongarm CUPS into configuring the printer (using entirely bogus printer URIs) reveal just further problems:

So even if the auto-detection worked (which it doesn’t), this wouldn’t print anyway.

I’ve also filed a bug at OpenPrinting/cups.

Unfortunately, this just doesn’t work with Xerox B210. The printer is listed in lsusb, but CUPS cannot find it. The usual tricks (modprobe -r usblp or blacklisting of usblp) don’t work either.

(It is questionable whether CUPS works on current ArchLinux at all though; probably not.)

Guessing from the files contained in the package, it might be expecting the printer to be connected over the network. (Which is something I definitely don’t plan to do.) There is no way to print over USB.
