Hi @simona, thanks for noticing. I forgot to commit and push my update of the PKGBUILD to the aur. Done now so the issue should be resolved.

I have a problem upgrading this pkg with yay / paru.
My -Syu upgrade find every time a new upgrade and avery time upgrade:
aur/dynamic-colors-git 47a91bb-1 -> 35325f4-3
If I start yay/pary -Syu after upgrade it do
aur/dynamic-colors-git 47a91bb-1 -> 35325f4-3
again and again...
I must set 'IgnorePkg = dynamic-colors-git' to avoid problem.

@peterhoeg: patching upstream was indeed a better idea than trying to work around any issues in the package. However looking over the code now I don't see any reason to have /run in the package. Not sure what I was thinking there. I have removed /run from the package entirely, this should resolve any issues. It will however spawn a warning from pacman when updating, as the files under /run will be missing (/run is tmpfs, so everything should be erased on every shutdown).

Guys, in a stroke of "not looking to see if anyone else has already done what I set out to do", I created a package for this y'day. This package is indeed messing around with /run (which it shouldn't). @simonsd - if you take a look at the PKGBUILD here: https://github.com/peterhoeg/pkgbuilds/blob/master/dynamic-colors-git/PKGBUILD That recipe doesn't need the patching either, as I forked and patched upstream instead.

Since dynamic-colors puts eg its pidfile under there, this was necessary. However if I recall correctly some changes were made to the filesystem pkg, causing this to move to /run and /var/run becoming a symlink. I will try to fix this when I have some time.

It's a symlink and I think pacman doesn't like to write there because of that, but why would a package put anything there directly?

error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files) dynamic-colors-git: /var/run exists in filesystem ???
