I think the version of ipython.el on github (posted below by Pank) has a bugfix (--color option) which is needed with newer ipython versions. However, ipython.el is not working for me at the moment with the latest emacs-python-mode (6.0.3). I had to downgrade emacs-python-mode to the previous version (5.2.0), see: https://github.com/ipython/ipython/issues/853
