I am emacs novice my-self however I can see emacs it-self and also other emacs-* packages install both el and elc files. I have got the inspiration from those. And I am not planning to change it unless I can find some evidence it's an improvement over what we do currently have.

as i understand elc files ar compiled elisp code. .el files is just source. i think .el files unused. but that is my nit-picking.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have updated source URL back in october and forgot to push it. Today I have added sound-icons to optdepends. This only installs el and elc files into /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/speechd-el/ . I don't know which of those are not usefull. The size difference would be minimal so unless you can explain it better I don't consider it as a real problem.

hello, i have sum suggestions maybe add "sound-icons" as optdepends and remove unneeded *.el files from /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/ thanks
