Won't build in a clean chroot: remove change reference to $startdir/src in package() to "${srcdir}" to correct.

That seems to be it. I removed everything and built 1) gmt-coast 2) gmt in that order, everything works as expected. It seems odd to make gmt-coast a hard dependency for gmt, but it would fix this problem for new installations. Thanks for your help, my plots look much nicer with coastlines!

Ok, as it works for me, I assume that a possible reason is that we have to revert the dependency of gmt-coast and gmt. If I remove the gmt-coast and then rebuild gmt I have your same problem. Need to find a fix in gmt. Let me think about this.

Thanks for providing these packages! I have gmt-coast (2.3.0-1) and gmt (5.1.1-1) from the AUR installed, both up-to-date. Coastlines are not found as illustrated by executing the following command from the pscoast documentation: $ gmt pscoast -R-30/-10/60/65 -Jm1c -B5 -Gp100/28 > iceland.ps pscoast: GSHHG version 2.2.0 or newer is needed to use coastlines with GMT. Get and install GSHHG from ftp://ftp.soest.hawaii.edu/pwessel/gshhg/. pscoast: low resolution shoreline data base not installed pscoast: No databases available - aborts Maybe relevant info: $ gmt pscoast --show-datadir /usr/share/gmt $ ls /usr/share/gmt/coast/ binned_border_c.nc binned_border_h.nc binned_border_l.nc binned_GSHHS_f.nc binned_GSHHS_i.nc binned_river_c.nc binned_river_h.nc binned_river_l.nc binned_border_f.nc binned_border_i.nc binned_GSHHS_c.nc binned_GSHHS_h.nc binned_GSHHS_l.nc binned_river_f.nc binned_river_i.nc Similar results for all other shoreline types: $ gmt pscoast -D[f|h|i|l|c] -R-30/-10/60/65 -Jm1c -B5 -Gp100/28 > iceland.ps ...pscoast: full resolution shoreline data base not installed ...pscoast: high resolution shoreline data base not installed ...pscoast: intermediate resolution shoreline data base not installed ...pscoast: low resolution shoreline data base not installed ...pscoast: crude resolution shoreline data base not installed Any ideas as to what could be going wrong? Help would be much appreciated!

The link is now dead The PKGBUILD should now be saying: source=(ftp://ftp.soest.hawaii.edu/gshhg/gshhg-gmt-nc4-${pkgver}.tar.gz) (note that 'gmt' changed to 'gshhg'

To have full and high coasts use following PKGBUILD: http://aur.pastebin.com/gvakurr0
