Sure I could just disown it, but for me it felt bad to just abandon a package. Maybe a stupid idea :) Glad you would like to maintain the package! Have fun!

If you want. You can always abandon a package with 'Disown package'

@solscticedhiver Would you like to maintain this package? I am not using kismet anymore, thus I do not get to know any issues other than people letting me know... And you seem to use it from time to time.

@solsticedhiver Should be fixed now, thanks for your heads up!

solsticedhiver commented on 2023-02-10 23:08 (UTC)

The syntax of kismet-git-sysusers.conf is incorrect and throws an error when installing the package:

/usr/lib/sysusers.d/kismet-git.conf:1: Lines of type 'g' don't take a GECOS field.

You don't have to put a "Kismet users" at the end of the line. Either remove that to let only

g kismet 315

or use the same file that kismet package with

g kismet 315 - - -

thanks

@cradcore thanks for letting me know! I updated the package accordingly.

@techge Please update the PKGBUILD, as there is no longer a docs submodule, it has been moved to a different repository. So lines 54-55 and 75-77 are no longer needed, and currently break the build

I have updated the package based on what the [extra] package is doing. Most of all, this has been included now: https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/packages.git/tree/trunk/PKGBUILD?h=packages/kismet&id=8fa5b411d21329c60ca42d34d2160a6e9303b14e#n64

I think this fixes the mentioned problem, does it @solstice ?

Why are the binaries in the package not stripped and with debug symbols ?

I have not changed /etc/makepkg.conf or changed anything for them to be not stripped.

Is it the ./configure/Makefile ?

Thanks for your hint and patience. I hope this is correct now.
