Hi, I can not build this one because of a prepare() error:

==> Fix bug #56207 patching file drivers/platform/x86/hp-wmi.c Reversed (or previously applied) patch detected! Skipping patch. 1 out of 1 hunk ignored -- saving rejects to file drivers/platform/x86/hp-wmi.c.rej

No joy, unfortunately. Tried with sq scheduling, but the problem persists. Guess I'll have to get my sh** together and report that bug...

sir_lucjan commented on 2017-12-05 14:44

I've switched to sq scheduling.

Diff between bfq-mq and rt-bfq:

If you want I can switch to sq scheduling.

OK, will do! Thanks for the pointers. Installing linux-rt now, curious to see how it will fare...

sir_lucjan commented on 2017-12-05 14:24

I don't use suspend/resume so I can't reproduce error...

Let's review...

  1. vanilla - works

  2. with bfq/without rt - works

  3. rt for lts - works.

  4. rt for 4.14 - error

You should repor a bug.

https://wiki.linuxfoundation.org/realtime/communication/bugreport

"PREEMPT_RT specific bugs can be reported either on the linux-rt-users mailinglist or using the Linux kernel bug tracker." ---> it seems to be malfunctioning

kflak commented on 2017-12-05 14:14

Any way to make it unbroken...?

sir_lucjan commented on 2017-12-05 14:12

Probably rt-patch for 4.14 is broken...

Status so far: tried with linux-bfq-mq. No resume issues. linux-rt-lts: No resume issues. Linux: none. It seems to be isolated to the linux-rt-bfq kernel. I start with these kernel options: "ro root=UUID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxx initrd=/boot/intel-ucode.img initrd=/boot/initramfs-linux-rt-lts.img threadirqs elevator=noop".

Could you try linux-bfq-mq ort linux-rt without bfq patch?

We just need to cover all of our bases.
