  • Leaving eclairvoyant's comment pinned because it contains some useful information.
  • Patch policy is different, but similar.
    • Primary purpose of this package are the ACS override and i915 VGA arbiter patches.
    • Upstream Arch patches will be applied to maintain parity with the standard kernel.
    • No other patches will be added.
  • Package does have options that can be changed, like building with clang or disabling Arch patches.
    • Defaults will match Arch packages, except when incompatible with this package's primary patches.
    • Options are subject to change. Read PKGBUILD for details.
  • Avoid commenting and flagging at the same time for the same issue.
    • Flag for common issues with standard solutions, like new releases, key changes, etc.
    • Comment for issues requiring explanation or debugging.
      • Use a pastebin for blocks of text more than a few lines.

This package exists for the specific purpose of adding ported patches based on those originally created by Alex Williamson for:

Arbitrary patches will not be added.

Refer to the wiki on PCI passthrough and this blog post on IOMMU groups for risks/caveats before using this package.

Regular AUR etiquette applies as well (knowledge of makepkg and searching the wiki/Arch forums is expected, and AUR helpers or Arch-based distros that are not Arch Linux are unsupported).

Kalinda: That is a patch that is irrelevant to what this package is doing. This package only fixes the specific issues related to ACS and Intel VGA arbitration along with general kernel bug fixes. This is not a catch-all patch set for all VM problems.

Hello, Would it be possible to get the new patch that fixes the NPT bug for the AMD folks included in this packages? It's here - https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/10027525/ I and a few other people from the VFIO reddit/discord have tested it and it works amazingly well, we can finally game in our VMs now. I do have a PKGBUILD all lined for this and was going to submit it, but since we have this package it seems like it'd be better to just include the patch here. I'd be happy to test any future changes made to it to ensure they work. Thanks

Just an update, I've been not uploading new versions of this package due to a problem with USB devices. This problem should be fixed by a patch that I am testing right now. If it works, you'll see 4.13.9 uploaded today.

==> Starting package_linux-vfio-headers()... install: cannot stat 'Documentation/DocBook/Makefile': No such file or directory ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in package_linux-vfio-headers(). I have this same error.

I keep getting the following error when trying to build this package (both with pacaur and manually): ==> Starting package_linux-vfio-headers()... install: cannot stat 'Documentation/DocBook/Makefile': No such file or directory ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in package_linux-vfio-headers(). Aborting... It only appeared with the most recent update (afaik).

Not until it is released in [core].

thanks for the hard work any chances to get updates based on 4.13?

markzz commented on 2017-07-30 02:55 (UTC)

I updated to 4.12.3-1 and had to redo the patches. As always, let me know if this breaks your system (not meaning that third party modules don't work).

Did you verify that the dkms hook built it for this kernel?

Does this require me to not be using the nvidia proprietary drivers? Whenever I use this kernel it stops during the boot up process, also when compiling the kernel it mentions missing some nvidia modules. I am using 1080 ti cards. edit: Well I installed the nvidia-dkms package and the LTS verison boots. This one still doesn't but for now I can play around with the LTS verison.
