Last commit on skilion/onedrive was almost 2 years ago. I don't want to take sides, but maybe it is time to think about moving on.

@kostrse

Can it be escalated?

I'm sorry, but I'm unable to escalate this. The Arch Linux Community and AUR repository users must be vocal about any changes to this package, advocating and pushing for changes that make sense in open discussion forums where a pragmatic discussion can take place.

@Scimmia, we are in 2023 (no updates since November 2021) and I see that you still think that the One Drive version of skillion is well maintained...

I'm not going to debate whether one version or the other is better, I don't think it's necessary because it's quite obvious.

You say that the problem is how abraunegg started with his fork and that this is no way to do a fork but the reality is that it is neither better nor worse than any other way. That's the positive thing about open source, that anyone can start a fork for any reason and it's time (and work) that will tell if the student surpasses the master. I don't understand why you are bothered by the fact that abraunegg presents his code as the alternative to skillion's version (when it is) or why you say "he has taken skillion's code without his consent" consent? in open source? I think you are not clear about the four freedoms or you don't understand what a GPL license implies.

This is a clear case of that overcoming. I understand that initially you might be reluctant, when a fork is born you don't know if it's a simple impulse that will be abandoned after a few commits or if it's really going to take off, but if you stick to your position today the only thing you're doing is a disservice to the community.

'skilion's full statement - https://github.com/skilion/onedrive/issues/518

Hi, great job by augmenting my client with all these features and congrats for making it into most Linux distributions. That's the beauty of open source, if one thinks he can do better, he can fork/clone the code and modify it as he likes. People will use the best one that fits their needs.

I consider this project an hobby. I made it to fulfill my use cases and nothing else. Therefore I don't want to spend time to implement and maintain features I don't use. Also I do not want to feel obliged to offer support when things stop working.

Keep up the good work :)

So you say it's abandoned yet has had commits. That's not abandoned.

"confirmed skilion has zero interest in maintaining it or fixing it." That is not at all what he said. "Therefore I don't want to spend time to implement and maintain features I don't use." That's completely different.

abraunegg commented on 2022-03-11 17:52 (UTC)

@Scimmia - the 'skilion' code was abandoned and despite minor commits since I originally forked the client and fixed the bugs it has since been confirmed skilion has zero interest in maintaining it or fixing it. Best of luck.

Slanderous? Are you or are you not claiming that this project is abandoned? You are (https://github.com/abraunegg/onedrive/blob/566251da29ceb5d2b4e9943e818631d6c031e41c/README.md?plain=1#L12) and have been consistently for years, even after being told many times that it isn't. Is it abandoned? No, it's not (https://github.com/skilion/onedrive/commits/master). Were you aware of this? Yes, see the link YOU previously posted.

Slander requires that the claim be false.

abraunegg commented on 2022-03-11 17:39 (UTC)

@Scimmia - It was forked to fix all the bugs and issues people had, provide a solution to their problems with zero response from 'skilion' to their problems.

No lies and deception here ... suggest you look at things a different way rather than the very childish attitude you have. Happy to have a difference of opinion here - however being slanderous in this way that you have is not very credible or professional of you.

Oh, and look, a fix for the issue reported here was committed a few months ago! Yep, totally outdated and unmaintained.

kokoko3k, I'll integrate the fix here tonight, or you can use onedrive-git.
