Someone marked this as "out-of-date" and said there is a new (beta) release. Well not so soon, as the tag says "pre-release" and the latest tag for "release" is still at this number. MORE IMPORTANTLY: there IS an openrocket-git package here in the AUR which will have this beta-pre-release !!

Note: In order to successfully run openrocket, make sure to set your current java-environment to 8, via the following command: sudo archlinux-java set java-8-openjdk.

@non_anonymous Thank you so much for fixing the package! The package now runs successfully for me. There is no need for the orphan request. I believe making a pinned comment that refers to using archlinux-java would be beneficial to users.

EDIT: or even better, adding a post_install() in a openrocket.install file that echos the setup required to run openrocket, as recommended here (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PKGBUILD#install).

Updated.....but please note: I made more than just the one change to the deps that acxz suggested a couple of days ago.

@non_anonymous Sorry, I apologize for my lack of patience.

However, the issue I faced was that I had a java-environment installed, specifically jdk-openjdk which is version 11 right now. So the dependencies for this package were met and I was able to install openrocket. But, openrocket does not work with java 11 (or anything 9 and above). So I believe it would be best to change the dependency to java-environment=8 so that users would have java 8 installed and they can change java versions via archlinux-java.

Actually.....the current dependancy "java-environment" DOES (should) load in openjdk8 !!!

** HOWEVER you must set things some things up too !!! i.e. PLEASE go to the archlinux wiki ... (specifically "JAVA" for the subject/page) and ALL will be explained to you. i.e.

(Um, yes java can be a mess, AND it is important that multiple java versions be available for use. Archlinux's solution is reasonable considering what the java developers have offered.)

FINALLY it is sad that in the past 36 hours you have asked for help, AND you have asked for it to be orphaned... PLEASE show some patience. Afterall a day and a half to find both the time and the answers is not hardly a burden that needs to be corrected by getting others involved !!!!

I HOPE you can find a way in your heart to rescind your orphan request and work WITH me. (As it turned out the problem appears to be your not reading up on how archlinux uses java......)

Turns out upstream works fine, however, it only works with jdk8 so it would be nice if the package dependencies could be updated to reflect that accurately.

This package installs fine for me, when running the openrocket command I get the following output: /usr/bin/openrocket: line 2: /bin/java: No such file or directory. Nevermind for some reason my jdk installation was acting up, I ended up reinstalling jdk-openjdk and I ran openrocket again problem solved. EDIT: I am getting an issue but that seems to be an upstream issue.
