I've found a temporary fix for this issue. In database.py, just replace self._con.text_factory = sqlite.OptimizedUnicode with self._con.text_factory = str You will also need to ln -sf /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/matplotlib /usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/ (there is a call somewhere to /usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/matplotlib whereas it should be 2.7) Don't forget to replace #!/usr/bin/python with #!/usr/bin/python2 in /usr/bin/pacstats. Then everything should work...but we still need a new release or at least a modified PKGBUILD ;)

After the transition to python 3. Here is the runtime error : ... It is highly recommended that you instead just switch your application to Unicode strings.
