@gothicVI: That's not an issue with this package. The error is coming from borg as it can't find the Python msgpack module. borg already depends on python-msgpack. Don't mix local and system Python packages.

I just installed borg and pika-backup and am getting

(pika-backup:133155): pika-backup-WARNING **: 19:09:41.854: Generic Operation: Unspecified error. - You do not have a supported version of the msgpack python package installed. Terminating.

EDIT: Solved! Thanks @yochananmarqos! I wasn't aware I had a local install of msgpack. Removing it solved the issue.

Had the same problem. I have now deleted the cache and tried to update again. Still, after 360 seconds of cargo-test it uses 100% of RAM and CPU causing the system to be extremely unresponsive and random apps to crash (including a virtual terminal that running the update). Ryzen 5 2600, RAM 16 Gb

I've disabled the main tests again since folks are having issues.

Since @system7 mentioned their system specs, I'll add mine as well: CPU: i5-4690k RAM: 8GB DDR3

@K4LCIFER Mine too. After a while it starts swapping, after that freezing completely on my X1 Carbon. Obviously, (?) on a 64 GB, i9-13900K system, there was no any problem. :))

I'm not sure if this is simply because my system lacks the requisite resources, but updating pika backup crashes at the cargo-test phase due to it running out of memory. OOM killer spins up and kills it part of the way through the second cargo-test.

@murkl: python-llfuse depends on fuse2. If Pika Backup finds the fusermount3 binary, it will use pyfuse3. If it only finds fusermount2, it will use llfuse.

murkl commented on 2023-07-10 08:21 (UTC)

@yochananmarqos please add the dependency python-llfuse. While missing, mounting samba share will fail: borg mount not available: no FUSE support, BORG_FUSE_IMPL=pyfuse3,llfuse.borg mount not available: no FUSE support, BORG_FUSE_IMPL=pyfuse3,llfuse.
