@fryfrog, guess what? In 1.40.0.7997-1 they have changed back to data.tar.xz so the PKGBUILD needs to change back. If you look at the View Changes you will see that it was changed to zst for arm deb and the comment for this version says nothing useful but I am guessing was just to change back. Sigh.

@karog, I've blindly made the change since I don't use arm32 or arm64. I didn't bump the pkgrel either. Thanks for reporting!

In the latest upgrade to 1.40.0.7996-1, data.tar.xz has changed to data.tar.zst but the PKGBUILD still refers to the former and thus breaks the build. Changing the filename in PKGBUILD to data.tar.zst fixes the problem.

@bkb: It's just a beta version that gates off access to Plex Pass holders. The stable version requires no such login to function.

Meanwhile, I had to downgrade to the non-plexpass version, because the current plexpass version (1.32.7.7571-1) hangs on my machine and won't stream any videos.

@fryfrog: Technically, an epoch should have been used; however in this case I'd say leave it as is as I agree with your reasoning.

@mmozeiko, you're totally right! I'd never seen epoch and my mind just converted that to pkgrel, sorry! I don't think we need to use that in this case, but I'll tuck it away for serious business in the future. Thanks!

Epoch value overrides any version comparison. See this from pacman's man:

Additionally, version strings can have an epoch value defined that will overrule any version comparison, unless the epoch values are equal. This is specified in an epoch:version-rel format. For example, 2:1.0-1 is always greater than 1:3.6-1.

I think that only works when the version is the same, not lower. I don't think my intention is to force everyone to downgrade, rather new installs won't have the hardware transcoding issues and anyone w/ the issue may hopefully notice the weirdness and have a look and decide to downgrade if they like. Hopefully, they fix it soon and this will all be a moo point.
