I've discovered that there is (now) a JSON file containing the package statistics data. Unfortunately, it's rather large and there's no (popularity) percentage attached to each package. I have mentioned this to the website's maintainer here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1733646#p1733646

Damn, that's quite a setback! If I can't figure out a workaround, I'll try to contact the website's maintainer for assistance.

Doesn't work - I think as the package-statistics page is generated using javascript and thus wget does not receive that info.

Thanks for letting me know. The problem was that Dropbox has disabled CDN-style link sharing. Fortunately, I already had a CDN attached to my domain. I have made the switch and updated the PKGBUILD accordingly.

Dropbox link is down

That conversation took place nearly four years ago. I made the requested change back then (by moving the script to Dropbox). There is therefore no need for me to use GitHub now. I won't be upset if you choose not to install this package as a result.

Brother Xavion, Don't be an ass. Use GitHub. Lot of people will love you for that. It's the right thing to do. You do that, and I'll install your package.

As I'm the author of this little script, I will always want it to remain in the AUR.
