Yes this is great, like @furioness says, it makes things working by default again. Not sure if there is such a thing in arch such as "provides: hostname", but this suffices imho.

@ElXreno Seems fine to me. Though hostname could be provided by other packages and, probably, in most cases already installed. So, maybe there is a way to install inetutils (or maybe something smaller) conditionally?

I would dig into it deeper but have a lot to do right now, sorry. But in any case, it makes the thing working, so it's fine in any case - thanks!

A dependency on inetutils should probably be added indeed, I would be happy to send a patch for this if it's accepted by the maintainer.

@solatis exactly! I ran "gdb rescuetime" and found it throwing errors something like "can't run sh hostname" So I installed a package (inetutils) that provides that hostname command and it started working. I think would be enough just to add some bash script that echoes your hostname to test. I asked RescueTime support and got an answer of a kind "we can't support all the distros - manage by yourself". I reported them my solution btw.

Try that. If it solves the problem, then this should be somehow checked during installation (sorry, I'm a newbie, don't know what to say here).

Does anyone else have issues with rescuetime lately? For some reason it cannot submit files anymore with this kind of message:

I also noticed that when looking at their website, it now warns that there is only "Limited Linux support". I reached out to the Rescuetime team and they said the same thing, they can't support Linux and guided me towards the larger Linux community.

Does anyone else have any issues as of late?

@salmanulfarzy thanks for the report! rescuretime2 has been updated to version 2.16.5.1 and issue should be fixed.

It appears that the rescuetime installer has been updated once again and no longer passes validity checks.
