The last open source version of sphinx was 2.2.11. 2.3.2-beta has been released, but this is a beta version and should be provided under the name sphinx-beta. A closed-source version 3.5.1 has been released, which should be supported by the maintainers of sphinx-bin.

i will create a new aur package for sphinx search version 3 (sphinx-binaries maybe) because the source is not public anymore, so people can decide to use this or the other

Just wanted to repeat peterhoeg's earlier comment. The current sphinx.install creates the user with user-id > 1000, resulting in login managers listing it as a valid user to login to. Also, I do see that "-s /bin/false" is used, however my sphinx user was added using /bin/bash. Maybe this was a recent fix? I installed from the aur about 2 weeks ago, and just did my first reboot and noticed it was in the login user list for SDDM. "Both groupadd and useradd in sphinx.install should use the --system parameter so the sphinx user is created correctly."

You should replace libmysqlclient dependency with libmariadbclient.

hi user00265, a split-build is not possible, a seperate package has to be created, if you are interested i can create a pkg?
