Adding neovim and related variations as a dependency to provide xxd was requested on the SteamTinkerLaunch issue tracker (https://github.com/sonic2kk/steamtinkerlaunch/issues/891), I also see a request for it in a comment here, too.

Would it be possible to add the following to provide xxd then?

  • neovim

  • neovide

  • neovim-vim-compat

If there are issues with including these, let me know :-)

@Wodger This is expected, STL is not automatically added as a compatibility tool. The wiki notes that it should be added using steamtinkerlaunch compat add: https://github.com/sonic2kk/steamtinkerlaunch/wiki/Steam-Compatibility-Tool

STL does not have to be used as a compatibility tool; it can be used for native Linux games using steamtinkerlaunch %command%. It can also be used standalone as a command line tool without being added to Steam at all.

It should not be expected that this package would do this for you, this is part of STL setup.

Should neovim-vim-compat be added as a package providing xxd?

Good Day,

Just wanted to give a mention about building and installing this package for the first time (for others that may run into this like I did). Compatibility tools symlink did not appear after completion (thus missing in steam compatibility tools dropdown). After some headscratching and searching through settings and the WIKI, found the command "steamtinkerlaunch compat add" under manual install, run in terminal and symlink is created - Now it appears. :)

Cheers!

Not sure how to bump the version myself but SteamTinkerLaunch v12.12 is out now :-)

@HalJordan I'm not sure where the idea that I want the bleeding edge of this package comes from. I am the maintainer of SteamTinkerLaunch and just wanted to see this package updated for users on Arch Linux. Perhaps there's been a misunderstanding here?

Also, GameConqueror is still listed as an optional dependency for this package, when GameConqueror support was removed in v12 as per my comment. Innoextract may also not be required but it can stay, GameConqueror should be removed though as it no longer has any support in SteamTinkerLaunch.

@sonic2kk, if you want the bleeding edge of this, why not install the -git version?

SteamTinkerLaunch v12 was released a few days ago, it would be nice to see this package updated :-)

Suggestion: Install the compatibility tool system wide in /usr/share/steam/compatibilitytools.d. It just needs a simlink to /usr/bin/steamtinkerlaunch, a compatibilitytool.vdf and a toolmanifest.vdf file.
