For those waiting to find a fix to running tabula natively, you can run tabula.exe in Wine. You need to install Java 8 silently into the prefix though, and then run tabula.exe. I'm doing just that for the time being. It's slightly inconvenient but works.

Last time I tested was in Jan 2022. Something has changed that now breaks the JRuby inside of tabula, I'm getting the same error.

It's not working for me either. Upstream has no issue tracker any more, and added the following disclaimer:

Tabula is, and always has been, a volunteer-run project. We've ocassionally had funding for specific features, but it's never been a commercial undertaking. At the moment, none of the original authors have the time to actively work on the project. The end-user application, hosted on this repo, is unlikely to see updates from us in the near future. tabula-java sees updates and occasional bug-fix releases from time to time.

curl breaks up... I don't know why, but wget works

Done, thanks for the heads up :)

Thanks :) I was supposed to get a mail from github on each release, sorry ^^

The revocation comment is: Hardware key for subkeys 0x641D4E3AA7F9FB72 and 0x8DE8FCA65410F8C4 was damaged and no backups available. New hardware subkeys 4096R/0x14B878BA95DA684A and 4096R/0x3980AA6B0F20BBD2 generated 2016-04-24. So I think we can ignore the GPG problem for now ; anyway the next version will probably be released soon without this problem
