My bad, sorry. It doesn't work for me using yaourt -Syu, but does if I specify yaourt -S thunderbird-nightly.

This automatically fetches the latest nightly. $pkgver gets updated upon build.

Not sure if there is a new link or something, but current PKGBUILD doesn't grab latest update. I have to manually change the pkgver listed in PKGBUILD to the current date in order for the app to update.

Thunderbird 60.0a1 is out, changing the PKGBUILD from

_version=59.0a1

to

_version=60.0a1

is enough to get the newest version. Moreover, firefox-nightly changed the download link from

ftp.mozilla.org/pub/...

to

download-installer.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/...

I guess this is interesting for thunderbird-nightly aswell.

I got an error during installation:

==> Starting package()...
install: cannot stat 'thunderbird/chrome/icons/default/default22.png': No such file or directory
==> ERROR: A failure occurred in package().

I assume there is a new icon for Thunderbird in different sizes (using i3 I don't see those anyway). I changed line 46 in the PKGBUILD from:

for i in 16x16 22x22 24x24 32x32 48x48 256x256; do

to:

for i in 16x16 32x32 48x48 64x64 128x128; do

That worked for me, but I cannot say anything about missing icons or anything. Maybe this helps someone!

I get the following message: curl: (22) The requested URL returned error: 404 Not Found ==> FEHLER: Fehler beim Download von http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/nightly/latest-comm-central/thunderbird-54.0a1.en-US.linux-x86_64.txt Breche ab... ==> FEHLER:Makepkg konnte thunderbird-nightly nicht erstellen.

fix the PKGBUILD: ==> Downloading... Warning: Illegal date format for -z, --timecond (and not a file name). Warning: Disabling time condition. See curl_getdate(3) for valid date syntax. (it installs fine, just remove the warnings)
