for v4, you should create a a symlink from ~/.tiny-media-manager/native to /usr/share/tinyMediaManager/native too (otherwise loading of some native libs won't work)
EDIT: you should symlink the version file too (otherwise upgrade tasks may fail)
for v5 you should probably re-think your approach, because I think the new setup won't work with the current shellscript (needs to be tested in either case). We do offer start parameters which tells tmm to be in a "read only" dir and writing everything to a "content" folder (-Dtmm.contentfolder) - see https://gitlab.com/tinyMediaManager/tinyMediaManager/-/blob/v5/src/main/java/org/tinymediamanager/Globals.java#L52

I agree with @cheezsteak: a new version of TMM being released should not break this package as it currently does.
I'd suggest that the tarball link be updated from https://release.tinymediamanager.org/v4/dist/tmm_{ver)_linux-amd64.tar.gz
to https://gitlab.com/tinyMediaManager/tinyMediaManager/-/archive/tinyMediaManager-{ver}/tinyMediaManager-tinyMediaManager-{ver}.tar.gz
.
Both are official sources of the TMM project, but the Gitlab link retains older release links whereas the release.tinymediamanager.org link doesn't.

The build is broken because the archive at https://archive.tinymediamanager.org/v4.3.9/tmm_4.3.9_linux-amd64.tar.gz is not available. The version tag must be updated to v4.3.9.1: https://archive.tinymediamanager.org/v4.3.9/tmm_4.3.9.1_linux-amd64.tar.gz

@mlaggner thanks for the hint! Was not aware of the archive…
mlaggner commented on 2022-09-03 06:11 (UTC)
@fkoehler you should point to the releases archive (https://archive.tinymediamanager.org/) because every subsequent release will remove the old release files from release.tinymediamanager.org

@fkoehler thank you for maintaining this and thank you for the package update!
