This tool "udevil" , is old and not well maintained anymore.

It used to be an official Arch package. But it ended up here, when it was removed from the official repos, https://archive.archlinux.org/packages/u/udevil/

Also, there was always, and there still is,

udevil-git, https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/udevil-git

This PKGBUILD, "udevil", has,

pkgver=0.4.4
_commit=77a61806fadbf19f02072df1aa67191fc375c35d
source=("$pkgname-$pkgver::git+https://github.com/IgnorantGuru/udevil.git#commit=$_commit")

It pulls from git. A specific commit. As there are no "proper" releases.

It is pulling from,

https://github.com/IgnorantGuru/udevil

Which is an abandoned repo, last updated in 2015. It is the first thing that comes up in google searching for "udevil", but it is an abandoned github repo nevertheless.

2015-05-04 IgnorantGuru o finalize 0.4.4

They dont even respond to questions, https://github.com/IgnorantGuru/udevil/issues/107

  any alternatives?

The only recent activity I could find on this udevil tool is at this other github repo,

https://github.com/alpharde/udevil

Which is the one, the PKGBUILD "udevil-git" is pulling from.

But even that repo, has not seen any activity since 2020. And it doesnt even have github issues enabled.

I would therefore consider if,

Is this PKGBUILD "udevil" really necessary ?

Pulling something specific from 2015 ?

Is the maintainer of this "udevil" PKGBUILD still around ?

Could it maybe be removed from the AUR ?

There is already a "udevil-git" PKGBUILD anyway.

It would be less confusing and more clear for AUR end users. To pay attention that this tool is very old and unmaitained. A disks tool very prone to bugs and security issues if not properly maintained.

That Upstream URL was, in any case, also wrong. It should of course have been,

Hi, I want to use this aur with aarch64. I've added aarch64 to the PKGBUILD and build it and it works. Can you please add this arch to the arch list?

Upstream URL should be https://ignorantguru.github.io/udevil/

Note change from .com to .io
