@clynamen @retrakker I think the last update (4.81.1-4) may install USB firmware properly. I don't have a USB camera to test with though. Can either of you verify? And be sure to remove any manually installed files/symlinks in order to properly test the package.

It would very much prefer to keep all files in /usr/{share,bin,lib} and keep everything out of /usr/local, if possible. As for configuration, that is up to the user, as the post_install() function mentions. The current message only talks about the ethernet daemon though. If that symlink doesn't solve the issue, this doesn't seem to be a packaging problem and you should contact IDS for support. But before you do that please test the symlink, because if that does fix it it's my fault and IDS can't help.

I moved them because the default install script puts them in bizarre locations. For example, it puts config files in /usr/local/share/. I haven't had any problems uploading firmware for the GigE cameras though. It seems odd it would only break for the USB cameras. Could you make a symlink at /usr/local/share/ueye pointing to /usr/share/ueye and see if that solves the problem? If so I suppose that would be an easy fix to include in the PKGBUILD, though still dirty. System packages shouldn't touch /usr/local. The other option is patching the strings inside the executable, but that is going a bit far I suppose... Still odd I didn't have similar problems with the GigE cameras.

Any particular reason why the package shifts most files to another location? I am having problems getting my USB 3 camera running as it can't find the firmwareuploads. Anybody else tried to patch the PKGBUILD to make it work?

There is a small typo in the PKGBUILD file: it should be makedepends
