I've installed it via AUR; it's 24.02.r18.g1d641f6-1. /usr/lib/vala-panel/appmenu-registrar -v yields Version 24.02-18-g1d641f6.

@gshwarts what version you exactly installed to revert a behaviour? Please, write full version with commit hash, if possible.

Unfortunately adding /usr/lib/vala-panel/appmenu-registrar as a startup item turns out not to solve things (nor make any difference, i.e. it is not necessary either). On Manjaro with XFCE, on the first login after a reboot, /usr/lib/vala-panel/appmenu-registrar does not run. Only when you log out and log in again does /usr/lib/vala-panel/appmenu-registrar run, and everyting works fine. This behaviour only occurs since the recent update of vala-panel-appmenu-xfce-git. Is there a way i can figure out why /usr/lib/vala-panel/appmenu-registrar does not run (or maybe directly terminates) on the first login after a reboot? What could be different with subsequent logins?

I see, you just mean whether or not that process is running. It is not. I added a startup item which launches /usr/lib/vala-panel/appmenu-registrar This seems to fix things. I'm wondering though why this is necessary. With the previous installation the registrar process had been launched without such an explicit entry.

ps -aux | grep registrar.

If there is no one, just add it into autostart.

How do I check the appmenu-registrar process? I just observe that double menu phenomenon. Revering back to an older version of vala-panel-appmenu-xfce elimiates that issue.

How it conflicts? It should not conflict. Just install it and check appmenu-registrar process.

Since the latest update of vala-panel-appmenu-xfce-git I do get double menus (Manjaro Linux with XFCE). This is the phenomenon as described here, for example: https://www.reddit.com/r/ManjaroLinux/comments/8v3pdx/looking_for_help_with_xfce_and_valapanelappmenu/?rdt=59508 It previously happened, as mentioned in the comments there, when vala-panel-appmenu-registrar-git was not installed. It appears that the recent update of vala-panel-appmenu-xfce-git makes it incompatible with vala-panel-appmenu-registrar-git. Switching to vala-panel-appmenu-registrar (which was updated more recently) does not solve things. Maybe vala-panel-appmenu-registrar-git needs some update, too?

The problems have been fixed. Thank you.

Some things seem to be working now. I have to go but I will updated later. Thanks for the help!
