I forked the project and made some improvements, including merging a pull request from the original repo.
I feel the original project is abandoned as it has been years since the author responded to an issue or pull request. Is it ok to ask for this package to use my fork instead? It is at https://github.com/Farzat07/weechat-edit

Hi, thanks for this package! Just wanted to mention that, as mentioned in this other plugin, the 'proper' way to autoload this at startup is to do:
ln -s /usr/lib/weechat/python/edit.py -t ~/.weechat/python/autoload
