@balazs.mezei create a new zmninja-bin package and later submit a merge request.

You can resubmit it as a
-bin
package of course. Then either request deletion of the non-bin package, or submit a merge request, whichever you prefer.MarsSeed commented on 2024-04-08 19:30 (UTC)
GPL is a free open-source license. Software that has such a license should be built from source in AUR PKGBUILDs, unless the package is named with a
-bin
suffix.balazs.mezei commented on 2024-04-02 17:59 (UTC) (edited on 2024-04-02 18:01 (UTC) by balazs.mezei)
Building from source looks like an absolute ball-ache. AUR packages don't have to be built from source when available. The rule is as follows.
"Packages that use prebuilt deliverables, when the sources are available, must use the -bin suffix. [...]"
I can delete and resubmit the package as zmninja-bin. Or you're welcome to take it over and implement building from source.

I have pointed out to you multiple times that this package has to be built from source, as per Rules of submission.
Please change the PKGBUILD to execute a source-based compilation.

Could you change the upstream URL to https://github.com/ZoneMinder/zmNinja? pillablepixels has transferred the project to ZoneMinder's devs and the original repo will probably stop getting updates later this year.
