I had to explicitly install 'xf86miscproto' in order for the package to install.

Package 'xf86miscproto', required by 'virtual:world', not found

Depends whether you had it present when building it: I get:

# namcap -i alock-git-2.5.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst
alock-git I: Depends as namcap sees them: depends=(imlib2 libgcrypt libxxf86misc pam libxrender)

There is an AUR package for libxxf86misc.

% namcap -i alock-git-2.5.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
alock-git I: Depends as namcap sees them: depends=(libgcrypt pam imlib2 libxrender)

libxxf86misc has been deleted but is no longer needed as a dependency here.

meribold commented on 2020-02-01 16:10 (UTC)

I had to remove libxxf86misc from the depends array to build this.

Thanks for updating :)

BTW. following line is no longer necessary:

sed -i -e 's,"login","system-auth",' src/auth_pam.c

since 'system-auth' is now the default PAM module used by 'alock'.

Please update the homepage to . Currently it is set as the dead Google Code Archive. Further, the Google page is for the "old" alock version by mgumz, not the Arkq fork that is installed by this PKGBUILD.

I've stumbled upon some errors when using alock with the pam mechanism: pam_tally(login:auth): Error opening /var/log/faillog for update pam_tally(login:auth): Error opening /var/log/faillog for read Those errors don't seem to impact any functionality but for the sake of fixing it I've found a similar bug report: Said bug report eventually helped me find a fix, which consists of patching the auth_pam.c file: diff --git a/src/auth_pam.c b/src/auth_pam.c index e7d2a11..36f32ee 100644 --- a/src/auth_pam.c +++ b/src/auth_pam.c @@ -88,7 +88,7 @@ static int module_authenticate(const char *pass) { int retval; password = pass; - retval = pam_start("login", username, &conv, &pam_handle); + retval = pam_start("system-auth", username, &conv, &pam_handle); if (retval == PAM_SUCCESS) retval = pam_set_item(pam_handle, PAM_TTY, ttyname(0)); I'll report this issue upstream as well, but since other distributions fix this issue in their package building I figured it would be worth fixing in the AUR package.

repository moved to build() { cd "$srcdir/alock" autoreconf --install # upstream bug: Configure ignores --prefix option ./configure --enable-pam --enable-hash --enable-xrender --enable-imlib2 \ --with-dunst --with-xbacklight make } I'm not sure about this git link now, but shows up. Also, Arqk version likes to segfault...

Dammit, I've just read the older comments, I completely forgot about the issue it caused a year ago. Anyway, I've been using this fix for some months now and it would seem that the aforementioned issue with imlib2 has been fixed upstream.

lastmikoi commented on 2015-08-12 12:06 (UTC)

Hello, Would it be possible to add '--with-imlib2' to the './configure' call ? Or would that require creating and maintaining another 'alock' package ? Adding this flag (and adding the extra/imlib2 dependency) would allow using an image as a screen lock wallpaper (-bg argument) Have a good day,

Package updated again, builds & works fine as of 2015-05-13

lastmikoi commented on 2015-02-12 08:43 (UTC)

Flagging as out-of-date as building fails if the "xmlto" package isn't installed. xmlto man alock.xml make: xmlto: Command not found GNUmakefile:85: recipe for target 'alock.1' failed Have a good day,

haawda commented on 2014-12-26 23:12 (UTC)

This package should be reuploaded as "alock", because it does not pull from an svn-repo. Upstream uses git.

bidulock commented on 2014-07-22 14:39 (UTC)

$ namcap alock-git-r91.09d2ad2-2-i686.pkg.tar.xz alock-git E: Missing custom license directory (usr/share/licenses/alock-git) alock-git E: Dependency libxxf86misc detected and not included (libraries ['usr/lib/'] needed in files ['usr/bin/alock'])

wiliam commented on 2014-03-18 21:33 (UTC)

The issue is caused by buggy imlib2-config (, I prefer to wait until it is fixed.

tazjin commented on 2014-03-14 14:19 (UTC)

Bumped to pkgrel=2, now depends on and enables pam support by default.

lastmikoi commented on 2014-02-21 20:19 (UTC)

Flagging as out-of-date since imlib2 1.4.6-1 breaks building: gcc: error: @my_libs@: No such file or directory

wiliam commented on 2010-09-25 11:10 (UTC)

Thank you ftrvxmtrx. alock source package contains up-to-date man page by default, but when asciidoc support is detected, it tries to create a new one. I decided instead to create a patch to disable useless man page recreation.

ftrvxmtrx commented on 2010-09-22 15:38 (UTC)

Please add xmlto to makedepends. xmlto man alock.xml make: xmlto: Command not found make: *** [alock.1] Error 127 make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....

Hi dumblob, you are right with removing "libxxf86misc" dependency, thank you. There is no different in source codes between alock-svn-94.tar.bz2 and actual version in mercurial repository - only TODO file seems to be different, so I will stick with the current tar archive.

dumblob commented on 2010-09-17 15:10 (UTC)

Hi, I have realized this package does not build because the "libxxf86misc" was removed from xserver ( Alock itself does not depend any more on this lib/extension. Could you please delete this package and create a new one with actual version from mercurial repository (because there is no official tar with this updated version of alock)? Thank you.
