Seems not to work; I had to move installed addon from /usr/share/blender/{blender version}/scripts/addon/mmd_tools to ~/.config/blender/{blender version}/scripts/addons/mmd_tools, and that did the trick. Might be due to $pkgdir not being set? dunno.
