@mosgerila, I even installed cinnamon on my Arch Linux, but I couldn't reproduce the issue. I saw the same output as you posted here, so I cannot know what's the cause from that. See the journalctl output at the time when bomi starts and cinnamon crashes. By the way, you had posted here another issue. Like that time, is it hardware issue?

@melkopisi, I can't help you about the issue. Please go to the arch linux forum and ask.

Just out of curiosity:

  1. What is the exact name of the menu item in Android Studio? 'Open in Files'? I couldn't find 'Open in Files', just 'Show in Files'.

  2. You said that you pressed 'Open in Files' and then bomi opened the directory. But you also said that the menu item was changed to 'Open in bomi' if bomi was updated. What was the exact name of the menu item that you pressed?

  3. Why didn't you mention whether you ran xdg-mime command? You should have presented your result of the command with/without bomi installed. Also you should have said whether you ran xdg-mime default org.gnome.Nautilus.desktop inode/directory.

  4. Do you have ~/.config/mimeapps.list or ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list? These files are the related ones. If you have the latter, remove it. The former is the file changed by xdg-mime or apps like nautilus. xdg-mime default org.gnome.Nautilus.desktop inode/directory should add inode/directory=org.gnome.Nautilus.desktop in section [Default Applications] of ~/.config/mimeapps.list. Even with this, if you can't resolve the issue, add the following into ~/.config/mimeapps.list:

[Removed Associations]
inode/directory=bomi.desktop;visual-studio-code.desktop;

about vs code yes i informed them but they claimed that it maybe happens because of my default xdg-mime isn't nautilus

but it's weird that is happening before and after a fresh install on Gnome

about Android studio yes that's what happens i press open in files then it opens bomi instead with dialog to open folder also if you tried to open a file from studio by clicking right click you will see an option called open in : everytime i update bomi it changes from open in files to open in bomi

@melkopisi, I just saw 'Show in Files' in Android Studio. Do you mean that you clicked this menu item and then bomi was executed instead of nautilus? If so, it's very weird because 'Files' means nautilus and is replaced by another name if the default file manager is not nautilus.

Even so, there is nothing for bomi to do. Bomi can open a directory, so the developer wrote inode/directory in .desktop file. If you don't want this, do you insist that only nautilus can have this function? Bomi is not a service, just an application. So bomi cannot steal calls to other applications. Something is calling bomi.

@melkopisi, So did you request vs code for the same thing? As I said, you have to check out your mime setting first. If the setting is changed by installing bomi, blame your pacman.

I know that Firefox has a smilar issue, but it's Firefox's bug. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1285711 It seems that yours is not the case since multiple apps is involved. please check your mime setting.

No, let me clear this out.

When i download something from chrome there's an option called : show in folder.

Everytime in install bomi or visual studio code this option opens the file in bomi and if not exists it opens in visual studio code

also that's happening when use open in files from Android studio or any app has the the option to open a folder just to show the files in it.

Do you mean that you right-clicked on a folder icon in nautilus and selected 'open with nautilus' in the context menu? I don't have 'open with nautilus'. Did you tried 'Open With Other Application' in the context menu. If not, try this and select 'Files', which is nautilus. After that, nautilus will open the folder by itself.

Anyway, it's not bomi's fault. It's of your mime setting. You can check it by xdg-mime query default inode/directory. If the result is not 'org.gnome.Nautilus.desktop', run xdg-mime default org.gnome.Nautilus.desktop inode/directory.

bomi-git also visual-studio-code-bin i don't know much about the process but these apps steal the "open with nautilus" function from nautilus

every update i go manually remove this mimetype from them cause other apps suggests open the folder in bomi if exists or visual-studio-code

@melkopisi, Although it's not me who is adding the mime type, I don't understand how that makes trouble for you. I think that bomi's developer added the mime type since bomi can open a directory to play all videos in the directory. There are some apps which can open a directory. Does bomi only cause problems in particular?
