Anyone can also propose changes or report problems at https://codeberg.org/andy5995/PKGBUILD_boswars

In addition to what @heironimus wrote, compilation of the package now depends [1] on lua51 which has to be added to the dependency list. This version of Lua is not compatible with other more recent versions used by Arch, but thankfully can be installed side-by-side.

This combined with the patch presented below makes the build successful. Maintainer, please update the PKGBUILD.

[1]: As seen in https://codeberg.org/boswars/boswars/issues/78

Building 2.8 with newer Python versions requires this patch to its build script: https://codeberg.org/boswars/boswars/commit/5cb645f8c55b536f0027314aac9216a200315708.patch

Indeed, thank you. Soon I'll update the package.

Looks like a new release was issued (2.8): https://codeberg.org/boswars/boswars/src/branch/master/CHANGELOG

And there is a 'boswars-2.8' git tag now.

My mistake, I apologize. I was wrong to have flagged this OOD, as there hasn't been a new release. I wasn't looking closely and thought this was the git package.

Guys, please create a boswars-git package. As soon there is a new release, I'll update this package. But no sooner, sorry.

Thanks for the FYI @dumblob. I see on Codeberg that at least one of the devs is the an original Boswars maintainer (unless it's somebody only using feb's username). If that's the case, this package should be updated to use the codeberg repo. I'll flag it OOD.

Bos Wars development seems resurrecting after it has been moved to git on Codeberg (https://codeberg.org/boswars/boswars/ ).

Feel free to follow what is happening there :-)
