Okay, you are right, regarding all up-to-date packages, it is working with "libtiff5".
My system still had "libtiff (v4.4.0-4)"(Repository: Extra) which also provides "libtiff.so.5". With the updated version of "libtiff (v4.5.0)" it provides "libtiff.so.6". Then "libtiff5" (AUR) can be installed without conflict.

Failure in check() indicates that the setup script has been changed. Please flag the package out of date if this happens.
If the application reports a new version, you can OK the update and it will make and install an updated Arch package. (You will need your sudo password.) As long as that works, there is no need to flag out of date.
