In the PKGBUILD add: try_symlink libudev.so.1 libudev.so.0 || return $? Below all of the the other try_symlink invocations.

It depends on libudev which no longer available in latest Arch.

playing h264 inside chromium used to be possible. Like the following: http://videos.revision3.com/revision3/web/filmstate/0132/filmstate--0132--rocketeer-reboot--hd720p30.h264.mp4 Do I need to install external codecs for this now? If so, which?

This package should provide "chromium" instead of "chromium-browser". See https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/31262

In /usr/lib sudo ln libudev.so.1 libudev.so.0

# sed -i 's/libudev.so.0/libudev.so.1/' /opt/chromium-browser/chrome works fine.

It seems like the recent switch to systemd-tools in [testing] caused thi package to stop working. The reason is that the chromium is linked against libudev.so.0, while systemd-tools provides libudev.so.1. I know there is not much that can be done about how the binary is linked, but I guess udev should be listed as a dependency of chromium-browser-bin, so that users are not too surprised when the chromium refuses to start all of a sudden...

It's not. [extra] follows the stable channel, this one the absolute latest builds there is. The other one updates once every few days, this one once every few hours.
